The moment I realized Obama could win Now with Video

Update:  Video is now attached

NOTE:  I am at work this morning and have been informed that the video that accompanies this post did not attach.  I will take care of it tonight.  The post m akes much more sense when all of the pieces are there.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were both in Wilmington, NC during the primaries and I was fortunate enough to hear them both speak. I wrote posts about each of the events back in April.

In this town there is still a fair amount of self segregation.  My kids have friends that are all different races, my husband and I both work in completely mixed environments but there are still places that are very predominantly white or black.  The event that Barack Obama held was electrifying.  I’ve tried to explain that there were five or six thousand people in the gym who had stood in line for hours to get tickets, then stood in line for more hours to get seats. These people were black and white, young and old, rich and poor.

There was a moment during this rally that occurred between an 82 year old white woman and Barack Obama.  If you have any question, any doubt that this can really happen watch this clip.  Remember, this was in April, before the NC primary.

Flat Stanley and Obama

When my son was in first grade his class read the book “Flat Stanley” and they all made little Stanley’s and sent them off. His went to his grandparents in Florida and Stanley spent the day with Grandma at work. I think Grandma might have actually had more fun than my son did taking Stanley everywhere and snapping pictures.

Well a 7 year old named Aron sent his Flat Stanley to Barack Obama.  Obama and Stanley had coffee with constituents, attended a Senate committee meeting and more.  The article is in the Hartford Courant and it’s enough to warm a Mom’s heart.
