Better sleep and fewer hot flashes

This looks like it could be too good to be true. A stellate ganglion block is an injection, not a surgery.  A stellate-ganglion block is a numbing of the star-shaped collection of nerves in the neck that is thought to affect both temperature and sleep control. A new study published in The Lancet Oncology reports that breast cancer survivors who are treated with a stellate-ganglion block can achieve long-term relief from hot flushes and sleep problems.

  1. Wow, this IS news. I am borderline psychotic from sleep disruptions brought on (first) by chemo for breast cancer, and (second) by ovarian suppression and aromatase inhibitors after chemo. I haven’t slept two consecutive hours without waking in the last 8 months, except through abusing sleeping pills. Heck, at this point, I’d take a lobotomy if it would give me a good night’s rest….
