So we’ve been talking about what to do with the floors after we get this awful carpeting out. When we redo the kitchen that will be easy because we’ll most likely go with linoleum (which I’m seeing called Marmoleum as well) But the living room is another story altogether. I’m not nuts about getting hardwood with young kids and cats. I’ve seen carpet that has been recycled and cork and they’re both interesting but I just don’t know enough. We want to try to go green but just really don’t know. Anybody that’s been through this? How about some advice?

We have bamboo and love it. It is much harder than traditional hardwood. We are really hard on our floors and it still looks as good as when we first installed it.
I was going to say Bamboo too. It’s very sturdy and grows like a weed so very “green” too. Not to mention the fact that it is really pretty 🙂
Yikes, do you guys have some secret source because the prices I’m seeing for bamboo are higher than everything else I’m looking at.
